WEEKLY REPORT 8th July 2017

“Grimley rolls back the years for Southwell”

Rye Cafe & Bar Division A

Hamish Moore 42* & 3-27, Suman Shrestha 41 and with Peter Vladev taking 4-54 it ensured yet another victory for Ellerslie 144-2 in a fine away win over Balderton who they restricted to 140-8. Leaders Wollaton 223-10 had M Iqbal 60, N Kirkwood 50 and J Cox taking 3-37 in a winning draw over Carrington 145-8. Moving from the foot of the table in  emphatic style are Gedling Colliery 292-7 and are replaced by opponents Attenborough 76-10 as a fine 103 from James Barnes was followed up by 4-7 from Danny O’Brien. Kimberley 297-6 keep up the pressure on the top two in a high scoring home win over Belvoir 293-7 in the runs at Newdigate Street were Ben Buckley 80, Matt Dean 49 & Jonathan Terry 73* for the victors whilst the visitors had Olly Clayfield 96 and Lewis Dann 120 scoring heavily. A Menzhausen 5-28  and once again D Pipes with 3-51 set up an away win for Collingham 145-4 as they came away with the win over Plumtree 144-8.

200 Degrees Coffee Division B 

Chris Miller 55, Mo Pharate 51 & Nathan Burton 62 helped Southwell to a competitive 228-10 but Calverton returned to top the division closing on 234-8 with Richard Lee 50* and Adam Peel 41 seeing them home. Clifton 304-5 gained a winning draw over Eastwood 225-7 as Paul Macmillan 138 along with Luke Gunn 52* gave the hosts a great platform to build upon and in reply Neil Gregory 105* carried his bat seeing his side to safety. Ryan Cuthbert with 4-46 starred with the ball to see Long Eaton 104-3 move out of the relegation places in an away win over Hoveringham 101-10. Nott’s Unity 131-5 had a comfortable away win over Kirkby Portland 130-10 with the trio of T Mahmood 4-22 , N Ghani 4-40 and S Aslam 57* all performing as did Jason Caunt with 70* for the hosts. Carrington 226-10 gained a winning draw with Safeer Ahmed 69, Adil Kahn Janjua 50 and Zahir Ahmed 4-59 in an enthralling game against Wollaton 200-8 who had bowlers Callum Brown 6-74 and Khalid Khokar 4-61 in the wickets.

Rothera Sharp Division C

Ben Elliot 74 and a superb spell of 6-39 from Duruv Shah saw Keyworth 176-10 victorious by 8 runs in a fine away win over Fiskerton/Thurgarton 164-10. Tauseef Ahmed 73*, Mohammed Akeel 57, Irfan Niazi 56* (21 balls), Ahsan Raja 3-31 & Jonny Lawrence 4-42 were the main contributors for Gedling & Sherwood 227-3 in the home win over Caythorpe 142-10. Although Paul Blatherwick crashed a fine 87 Gotham 207-5 fell to a home defeat at the hands of Farndon 208-5 with Danny Hubbard top scoring in the win with 39. Paul Harley 4-37 and Akif Farooq 4-26 ripped through the batting line up of Beeston & Toton 97-10 and Hucknall romped home finishing on 98-0 in a crushing victory. A fine innings from skipper Ally Pettit 105 set up the home win for West Bridgfordians 205-9 over visitors Radcliffe on Trent 105-10.

Rex Gooding Division D

An undefeated half century from Adrian Kitchen 51* saw Collingham 199-9 gain a home win over Gedling Colliery 181-8 for whom in the runs for the second week running was Tom Coffey with 85. Moving into second spot are Hickling 148-7 as their current run of good form continued with S Jennings 50 and 4-25 from T Sprowson in the win over East Bridgford 147-10. The 51* from Matthew Footitt was the foundation for the win for Ellerslie 223-7 over Plumtree 150-10. What a way to get your first win of the season as skipper Alex Bullivant  took 6-37 for Bramcote 78-0 in the win over Grantham 77-10 and then they were seen home by P Godden with 40*.

Trophy Master Division E

Farhad Amin with a sublime spell of 6-36 bowled Ruddington 225-7 to an away win over Belvoir 211-10. A Convincing win was set up by James Wilks 96*, Richard Wells 38* following the 3-21 by Dave Appleby in the win for Sutton Bonington 155-2 over Caythorpe 154-9. J Grimes 50 top scored for West Bridgfordians 204-8 as they brought the winning run of East Leake to and as they finished on 181-9 , and are rooted at the bottom of the table. Tom Chalkley 44 and Craig Smithurst 5-55 failed to stem the tide as Underwood 147-10 fell to defeat at the hands of Newark R&M 148-5 with S Kennewell 59 J Evans 4-47 starring. Gino Taj took 5-11 and D Giri 3-17 in the win for Nott’s Unity 168-10 over Kirkby Portland 115-10 despite the efforts of S Chauhan 6-55. 

GB Bookkeeping Division F

A Club record partnership of 254 from Martin Wilson 124 & Andy Rose 118* saw an overwhelming victory for Caunton 269-3 in their victory over Lowdham 168-8. S Harding 42 followed up team mate P Smith’s spell of 6-20 as Ravenshead 77-2 outgunned Lenton & Willoughby 76-10. Russ Pitman 61 and Sam Sanders 5-28 played the leading roles in the win for Wymeswold 172-10 over Basford Mill 117-10 who were yet again indebted to Tom Bosworth when taking 5-41.

Bar Lane Community Sports Division G

Kulwarn Dhariwal with 45 and Chris Ludden 55* saw West Bridgford Legion 163-2 run out comfortable winners over Beeston & Toton 162-7. Nazakat Ali 62 and 5-53 from Asim Wahid contributed in the win for Carrington 255-7 over Balderton 134-10 who had Josh Tranter hitting 58. Despite finishing unbeaten on 49* Graham Burton was on the losing side as Gedling Colliery 116-10 fell to defeat at the hands of Kimberley 122-5 with both James Griffiths 38* and Joe Boocker 3-28 featuring in the win. T Holmes top the scoring analysis with 88 for Kinoulton 182-10 in their home win over Fiskerton/Thurgarton 118-10. Rav Digwa with 3-35 and Mitul Asawala 4-6 bowled Young Lions 79-1 to a quick fire away win over Whatton & Aslocton 78-10.



Turner Violins Division H

M Haider 39 and H Khan 5-20 ensured Gedling & Sherwood 150-9 remain top in a thrilling finish in the one wicket win over Chilwell 149-10 who had W Khan taking 5-41. Despite only posting 115-10 Attenborough still had enough in the tank as Long Eaton 70-10 failed to chase down the total. Madni 108-3 also contest the top position with Mehtab Ahmed 61* and Zeshan Aziz 4-35 starring in their win over Bottesford 106-10. Stuart Grimley had a day to remember when scoring 53* and then followed it up by taking 8-16 as Southwell 200-7 triumphed in a fine win over Calverton 112-10. Clifton 170-7 were victorious when they entertained and defeated Stapleford 98-10 with 52 from Saqib Shah.

Carlton Car Centre Division J

Ross Brown 48, Aaron Simpson 40 and an earlier spell of 4-30 from Jack Fearn earned a well-deserved win for Hucknall 124-4 over Oxton 121-10. In the runs yet again was Eddy Storr with 76* for Ruddington 110-3 in the home win over Ellerslie 107-10 at Elms Park. Romeel Gondal 3-27 & 61 along with Tom Le Noury 39* gave West Bridgfordians 141-3 the impetus to carve out victory over Basford Old Boys 140-9. James Watterson hit 65 in the total of 187-7 set by Woodborough and in reply Hoveringham 189-8 were seen home in a tight finish by Scott Balsher 48* and Paul Lewis 45.

King Stone Products Division K

R Kelley 5-16 and then J Fraser crashed 50* as Kimberley 130-1 ran out winners over Attenborough 126-9 at Long Lane. Gaining their ninth win of the season but only just were Wollaton 104-9 in a thriller over Bramcote 103-10 with Huzait Latif, Ed Eggerman and Assad Khan all taking three wickets apiece. Collingham 153-5 were victorious by 5 wickets in the home win over Caythorpe 150-8 who at least had the consolation of having the top score of the match made by Simon Park with 50. J McKay 33* and P Litchford 52* made batting seem very easy in the 10 wicket win for Newark R&M 94-0 over Farndon 93-10. L Harrison hit 78 as Great Dalby reached 199-6 and hosts Poplars 200-7 were guided home to victory by Nouman Maqsood who also hit a fine 78 in response.

Oracle Property Finance Ltd Division L

An all-round team performance was evident as Ashley James Cleaver 5-31 and Matt Huskinson 3-49 as Basford Mill 110-2 were in the winning mode when overcoming Chilwell 106-10 despite a fine 57 from Asad Abid. Ian DeAth 52, Sam Bicknell 59* and 3-27 along with Ben Robinson 4-16 were all features in the win for Belvoir 149-2 over Bengal United 146-8. D Greaves scored 68 to see Old Dalby to a fine score of 247-8 and they ran out winners when RHP could only score 177-10 when chasing the formidable target. Rob Towndrow 45 and 4-34 assisted by team mate Qundeel Haider 3-34 saw Radcliffe on Trent 128-9 to the narrowest of victories in the away win over Thrumpton 127-10. S Pringle 37 and a fine 6-14 from Ansor Mehmood saw a victory for East Bridgford 135-7 when defeating Underwood 62-10.

Robert Whowell & Partners Division M

Mitch Frost 65, Dale Reeve 42, Leon Johnson 4-31 & Phil Reeve 3-32 were responsive in the win for Burton Joyce 176-10 in the success over West Bridgfordians 147-10. In what proved to be the innings of the match Alister Bradbury was the hero for Kirkby Portland 84-10 and when Thomas Crossland took 4-14 to bowl out opponents Hucknall for a meagre total of 48 it was all smiles for the Nuncargate outfit. An undefeated 45* from Simon Wilkinson proved to be the deciding factor as Lowdham 108-5 ran out winners over Lambley 106-8. Oliver Wilcox 110, Richard Wolfe 54 and Andre Pears 4-26 combind in assisting Nottingham Deaf 212-7 to defeat visitors Nott’s & Arnold 126-10 by 86 runs. 

Paul Grundell Division N

Ellerslie 147-7 close the gap on the leaders with a convincing win over Whatton & Aslockton 65-10 as Josh Newnham hit 41 and Luke Greenwood took 6-17. Matt Bain 58 and Joseph Tudor 4-55 starred in the win for Keyworth 148-6 over Gedling & Sherwood 145-10 for whom Ade Anderson top scored with 58*.Qasim Mehmood 30, Umar Shaukat 3-17 and Chloe Rudkin 3-4 all performed creditably as Nott’s & Arnold 138-8 proved far too strong for Beeston & Toton 40-10 who at least can be happy with the bowling of Jack Beavis when he took 4-23 earlier in the proceedings. 4-21 from Ryan Robinson was not enough to save leaders West Bridgford Legion 74-9 against Newark R&M 75-8 as the pair of Reuben Straker 33 & Luc Chignell 3-11 celebrated in the tense finale.
