THE GUNN & MOORE

SOUTH NOTTINGHAMSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE

WEEKLY REPORT 25th April 2015

PENFORD IS BELVOIR’S HAT TRICK HERO

The league programme began with a smattering of games spread across five divisions as players across the south of the county braved the elements and although rains showers were prevalent all games reached a conclusion.

BELL & JEROME” DIVISION A

Ellerslie made the perfect start to their 2015 campaign by taking maximum points against newly promoted Belvoir, batting first they were dismissed for 165 with the ever reliable Kane Wilson scoring an impressive 65, the pick of the bowling for Belvoir were Dan Gibson 4-21 & Lewis Dann 3-30. In reply though they were reduced to 93 all out as the combination of Sunil Shrestha 3-11 and Suman Shrestha 5-30 produced match winning performances.

 “200 DEGREES COFFEE” DIVISION B

Clifton Village 211/9 made an emphatic start to the season with a very convincing win over Bottesford 131/10, starring for them were Kyle Killingworth 57, Daniel Mierkalns 43 & 3-28 Dominic Robinson 3-55, meanwhile for Bottesford Jake Hutchinson scored 32 and Simon Claricoats 27, what will be more encouraging though will be the bowling efforts of both Alidair Culpin 4-57 and Ben Ryder 4-61 in the loss. The two relegated sides from last year met at The Rookery where Hyson Green made a very respectable 211/8 in 48 overs with both Sagger Akhter 65* and Mahmood Ali 40 in the runs but Calverton 214/1 showed they are in the mood for an automatic return to the top flight as both Scott Andrew 88* and Eddy Lee 74 put the bowlers to the sword, earlier the trio of Darren Wright 3-56, Brinley Kirkham 2-35 & Kyle Welch 2-57 were the pick of their attack.

 “ROTHERA DOWSON” DIVISION C

 “FEET” DIVISION D

 “TROPHY MASTER” DIVISION E

 “GB BOOKKEEPING” DIVISION F

“BAR LANE COMMUNITY SPORTS” DIVISION G

Relegated Southwell 168/8 suffered defeat as visitors Ravenshead 169/7 narrowly gained the spoils, for the hosts Edward Buhl 42, Olly Stanley 27* & Richard Maloney all enjoyed good early season performances but were out passed by Nauman Shafiq with an unbeaten 74 and with 38 from Peter Smith and 3-34 from Dan Fellows it meant the perfect start to the season for Ravenshead.

“JRL ESTATES” DIVISION H

 “CARLTON CAR CENTRE” DIVISION J

“KING STONE PRODUCTS” DIVISION K

 “SIGN SOLOUTIONS” DIVISION L

 “ORACLE PROPERTY FINANCE” DIVISION M

Wymeswold 162/6 had Graham Barry 51 scoring a fine half century and looked to be heading for a larger total until Dave Penford 3-8 struck late by taking a hat trick from his three overs, two lbw’s and a catch were the trio of dismissals and you wonder what might have happened had he have been given the ball earlier. In reply Belvoir 163/4 comfortably reached the winning post as Dan Wilson struck an unbeaten 74 although it is most noteworthy to mention the bowling of Phil Parkes 4/32 as he made a great start to his own season.

“BAR LANE COMMUNITY SPORTS DIVISION N”

A fantastic advertisement for local cricket took place as Beeston & Toton Sycamore 240/2 and Bingham 214/10 met in the season’s opener. James Rhodes 91, Steve Goldson 61* and Stuart Tideswell 44* set a formidable total for the visitors to chase. In reply Bingham got of to a magnificent reply and were 100 for 0 after 10 overs with openers R Newport 51 and B Cox 84 plundering the BATS attack but then with the light fading they turned to spin and Ved Parkash 3-31, James Bolger 3-29 and V Tandon 3-33 combined for a win from the last delivery of the game.
