WEEKLY REPORT 15th July 2017

“Barney offers ray of light for Gotham”

Rye Cafe & Bar Division A

Gemaal Hussain 4-21, Kimany Gregorie 3-19 and then a rapid 48* by Saqlain Bazmi gave Carrington 68-1 a quick fire victory over bottom of the table Attenborough 64-10. Darren Bicknell 61* along with Joe Bottemley 41* both carved out a victory for Belvoir 140-1 when the entertained and defeated Balderton for whom Chris Dobbie tops scored in their total of 136-10.  D Fahad Ul Haq 54, Rob Matchett 49 and evergreen David Pipes 4-27 helped Collingham 201-9 to a winning draw over high flying Kimberley 144-9 for whom D Wheatley 56 and Z Ramzan with 4-74 were the ones who provided the key to stave of defeat. Gedling Colliery 120-3 gained another win as they put Plumtree 116-10 to the sword with bowlers Rhys Hayes 3-18 & Conor O'Brien 3-21 being the pick of their attack. It was an overwhelming victory for leaders Wollaton 280-2 as they brushed aside second placed Ellerslie 117-10 with David Barr 132*, Dan Andrew 101, Mustafa Iqbal 3-14, James Cox 3-24 & Zain Latif 3-37 all causing the damage.

200 Degrees Coffee Division B

Calverton 175 have forsaken top spot as they succumbed to a nine wicket defeat over Hoveringham 176-1 who seem to be finding their feet after last season’s relegation. Carrington 210-10 are the new leaders after defeating close rival Clifton 135-10 as the quartet of Zahir Ahmed 65, Safeer Ahmed 59, Adil Khan Janjua 43 and Saif Arshad 4-43 all came to the party. Kieran Cooke 46, Ryan Cuthbert 6-41 and Terah Pearce Kieron Hooley 3-44 all assisted in the win for Long Eaton 130-3 over Wollaton 129-10 at West Park.A nail biting finish saw Nott’s Unity 169-9 just edge out Eastwood 167-10 with 46 from S Aslam backing up the bowling from both Iqram-Ul-Haq 4-35 & Waleed Ahmed 4-28. Mohan Pharate 64 and Alex Rainbow 63 guided Southwell to respectable 185-10 but not to be out done the pair of L Randle 78 and Joe Caunt 73 saw Kirkby Portland 186-3 home to victory.

 

 Rothera Sharp Division C

George Park(U14) 70 & Matt Holford (U17) 30 & 5-44 were the young guns from Caythorpe 215-7 in their winning draw over Farndon 208-8 in which Martyn Hill hit a fine 78. Ben Shaw 60*, Alex Winiarski 43, Chris Watkins 3-22 and Alex Sheriston 3-43 ensured West Bridgfordians 163-2 maintain top spot as they came away victorious over Hucknall 161-10. A fine away win for Gotham 238-6 was rounded off by Richard Pitt 5-24 after both Paul Blatherwick 81 and James Burton 45 set the imposing target to which Keyworth fell well short as they were bowled out for 107-10 in reply. Radcliffe on Trent 253-9 gained a winning draw with Joe Wilcox 55, Qundeel Haider 53*& 3-68 and Jordan Harbottle 46 setting up a potential win but were frustrated in their cause by an excellent rear guard action by Dave Newby who hit 82 for Fiskerton/Thurgarton 215-8. 

Rex Gooding Div D

M Spencer with fine figures of 5-15 saw Bingham 106-8 continue a recent run of good results this time overcoming East Bridgford 105-10 despite a fine effort from N Foster when taking 4-17. Ryan Duggan with a brilliant 131* was the match winning innings that saw Ellerslie 215-7 home by twelve runs when defeating Bramcote 203-8. Matt Winn crashed a superb 81 to help Hickling to a respectable 186-7 but in reply Tom Coffey 77*& Sukrit Raman 98* gave Gedling Colliery 190-1 the win to move to within one point of their opponents. Harry Webster 56 and Nick Silverwood 49 help set a score of 177-8 for Bottesford in the away fixture against Thrumpton who closed on 178-7 thanks to an unbeaten 61 from Jack Towers the game also had the unusual incident of the ball hitting the wicket keepers helmet behind the wicket culminating in a precious five penalty runs. Grantham were unable to raise a side for the visit to Plumtree.

Trophy Master Division E

Grant Newcombe 124*, Jon Clarke 50*, Keith Oxspring 46 and then the bowling from Frank Foreman 3-15 & Alex Cufflin 3-22 gave East Leake 235-1 an emphatic win over Caythorpe 53-10. George Squires 4-14 set up the win for Newark R&M 88-2 after they had dismissed hosts Kirkby Portland 85-10 earlier in the proceedings. Once again with 170 Eddie Stoor led the way and with Wasim Ahmed 83 along with Farhad Amin 4-35 it gave Ruddington 362-6 a convincing win over Underwood 128-10. Sutton Bonington 220-7 proved too strong for Belvoir 147-10 with James Wilks top scoring with 63 but in defeat Belvoir still had the man of the match with the all-round effort from Olly Esom 36 & 5-46. Andrew Jeffery 41 and 4 catches along with team mate Chris Navin 43 & 6-24 saw West Bridfordians gain the win over Nott’s Unity 111-10 despite the 5-24 from Hamza Asif.

GB Bookkeeping Division F

A Hemstock 82 and J Howard 43 laid the foundations for the win for Flintham 237-7 in a fine away win over Basford Mill 175-10. Barney Howard with 5-34 gave something at last for Gotham to smile about even though they slumped to 39-10 when going down to a heavy defeat as Stuart Simpson hit 63 and Andrew Rose took 5-14 for winners Caunton 188-9. 48 from Ian Staples set Lowdham to a total of 146-7 and Burton Joyce fell just short when being bowled out for 142-10 in reply. Nauman Shafiq 83 top scored for Ravenshead 193-8 but still fell to defeat when visitors Wymeswold 196-8 chased the total down with an over to spare.

Bar Lane Community Sports Division G

Eden Tranter with a spell of 4-12 helped Balderton 169-8 to record a fine home win over Kinoulton 86-10. Naz Ali 89* & Nash Khan 5-19 gave Carrington 166-9 hope in the home fixture against Kimberley 167-8 but C Richardson with 65* & 3-34 saw them home by 2 wickets. Asad Hussein 76, Will Crowder 58, Vik Sharma 4-15 and Steve Collington 3-8 gave Fiskerton/Thurgarton 200-8 a comfortable home win over West Bridgford Legion 73-10. Lee Gomersall 135*, Ali Polkey (15 yrs) 46  and then Sam Burton (15 yrs) 4-20 all produced fine performances to enable Gedling Colliery 259-6 to run out easy winners over Whatton & Aslockton 124-10. An excellent 78 from Mark Walsh was the backbone for Beeston & Toton’s total of 143-10 but an undefeated 85 from Harry Bhaker saw Young Lions 145-4 take the victory inside 25 overs.

Turner Violins Division H

Lucas Stentiford 44, Sam Randall 42 and man of the match Colin McConnell 30 and 7-33 set up a home win for Attenborough 173-7 over Chilwell 160-10. H Jobit 4-31 and Z Aziz with 4-18 bowled Madni 188-10 to a fine away win over Clifton 114-10. Geding & Sherwood 156-9 won by the slenderest of margins when defeating Southwell 155-10. John Fletcher 77*, A Ward 4-32  and J Allen 3-15 all starred in the win for Long Eaton 127-5 in the win over local rivals Stapleford 123-10. Calverton were unable to raise a side in the fixture against Bottesford.

Carlton Car Centre Division J

Imran Shahid 57, Tony Orange 54*, Scott Berridge 37 as well as Tim Martin 34 & 5-20 all contributed in the win for West Bridgfordians 237-9 over Ellerslie 175-6. Phil Gandy with an unbeaten 84* helped Ruddington 210-6 to a home success over Hoveringham 104-10. Amani Darr 42 & 6-14 starred for Hucknall 134-10 in the win over Woodborough 100-10 despite a fine return from James Watterson with 5-40. In a low scoring match the vital 30 from Steve Yelland saw Oxton 113-7 gain victory over Keyworth 110-10.

King Stone Products Division K

C Knight 51, M Tilley 34 & J Noble 3-17 saw Attenborough 108-5 close out an away win over Farndon 104-10. Luke Harrison 87 and Ross Wild 3-45 gave Great Dalby 208-10 the win over the nine men of Caythorpe 183-10 who had P Mansfield 42, M Raw 38, E Finn 4-51 giving their all in a battling display. Ben Turner (u13s) 4-15 & Andy Crouch 3-18 gave  Kimberley 89-3 the firepower to record an easy win over Bramcote 85-10. An undefeated fifth wicket partnership by Brian Thomas 56*& Nouman Maqsood 48* seemed to have put Poplars 190-4 in the driving seat but then Peter Litchfield hit 83 to see Newark R&M 191-6 home with four balls to spare. Alex Scott 69 & Charlie Fisher 60* helped Collingham 169-8 to a narrow win over Wollaton 168-8.

Oracle Property Finance Ltd Division L

Chas Hubbard 85, Mark Ebb 81*  and a fine spell from Andy Dann 4-59 gave Belvoir 232-4 a home win over Old Dalby 159-10. Paul Woodward 120* and a supporting 61* from Esmond Urwin saw Chilwell 195-0 victorious over newcomers RHP 149-5. Continuing a run of good form are East Bridgford 143-8 as they gained a narrow 2 wicket home win over Basford Mill 139-9. Bengal United 110-4 returned home victorious with a six wicket win over Radcliffe on Trent 109-10.  Jon Rye 46 and Sam Charlton 3-3 helped Thrumpton 146-8 defeat Underwood 75-10 to keep them at the foot of the table.

Robert Whowell & Partners Division M

Jordan Slater 76* & 4-14 starred for Nottingham Deaf 181-3 in their away win over Burton Joyce 96-10. A maiden five wicket haul from Jacob Driscoll 5-34 gave victory to Kirkby Portland 142-9 as he helped dismiss Lambley for 131-10 in reply. Nott’s & Arnold 175-9 recorded a fine home win over Lowdham 104-10 with N Stannard 48, H Burton 37 and a superb return of 7-11 by J Jacub. The pair of Dave Stansall 52 & 3-20 and Mark Whitling 3-20 saw Bingham 135-10 return home with a win over West Bridgfordians 100-10 despite an excellent 5-32 from Dan James. Wymeswold were unable to raise a side in the home fixture against Hucknall. 

Paul Grundell Division N

Ahsan Raja 4-11-4 and Matt Lawrence 54* gave Gedling & Sherwood 122-2 a comfortable home win over Fiskerton/Thurgarton 118-10. In a low scoring affair Newark R&M ran out winners by three wickets when overcoming the 102-6 set by visitors Ellerslie. Table toppers West Bridgford Legion 217-3 gained an emphatic win over Keyworth 103-10 with Nathan Robinson (U-14) 40, Raj Shandilya 63* & Robin Whitehead 80 all in fine form. A Timms with a fine 56 for Beeston & Toton 139-8 was the stand out innings of the day but could not stave of defeat as they fell short when chasing down the 149-8 set by hosts Whatton & Aslockton.
