WEEKLY REPORT 1st July 2017

“Sharma stars with maiden century”

Rye Cafe & Bar Division A

Gemaal Hussain with 6-49 bowled Carrington 189-9 to a resounding win over high flying Kimberley 102-10 at Esher Grove. Belvoir 206-6 with Tom Neville hitting 63 and Dan Gibson 5-53 came out on top with the win over Collingham 202-9 who had Oliver Dyson 76, Fahad Ul Haq 57 & David Pipes taking 4-65. Moving into second spot are Ellerslie 173-5 as 64 from Richard Harris guided them home in the win over Plumtree 169-8. A double century opening stand from Daniel Andrew 100 & Dave Barr 129 saw Wollaton 280-4 to a winning draw over Gedling Colliery 184-8.

200 Degrees Coffee Division B 

49 & 3-33 from Stuart Walton steered Hoveringham 139-4 to a fine away win over Eastwood 135-4 to see them on the edge of the promotion challenge. Sunil Sharma took 4-31 as Wollaton 139-4 ran out winners over Kirkby Portland 138-10 despite the efforts of Jonno Williamson with 4-26. Carrington 109-2 were convincing winners over Long Eaton 106-10 with a superb spell of bowling from Liaqat Ali who took 8-29. Calverton 141-10 lose top spot after going down to defeat at the hands of Nott’s Unity 144-6 with Ajaz Riaz 50*, Shereyar Aslam 44 & Ajay Revu 4-32 all combining for the victors. Clifton 167-10 go top of the pile as Luke Gunn 52, P MacMillan 5-24 & K Cowlishaw 4-4 all played their part in the win.

Rothera Sharp Division C

Paul Blatherwick 53 & 5-55, Edward Saville 57, Steve Haworth 52 & James Burton 53 were all in good form as Gotham 267-7 gained a much needed win over Beeston & Toton 213-10 for whom Andrew Burrell with 125 played the innings of the match. J Whyley 3-16 and A Scott with 3-37 saw Hucknall 109-7 edge to victory over league leaders Caythorpe 106-10. Colin Cliff 88* and  Aaman Singh 5-29 both assisted in the win for Fiskerton/Thurgarton 180-10 n over Gedling & Sherwood 149-10 who once again had youngster Jonny Lawrence excelling when taking 6-46. In a low scoring affair the 4-30 taken by J Pierce was decisive as Radcliffe on Trent 104-10 ran out winners by eight runs over Keyworth 96-10. The game between Farndon & West Bridgfordians was called off due the wet condition of the ground.

Rex Gooding Division D

Runs were aplenty as firstly victorious Bottesford 263-3 with Jake Hutchinson 60, Nick Silverwood 74 & James Ward 71* and then Tom Coffey 100 & Geoff Burton 68 for Gedling Colliery 252-5, all enjoying the batting friendly track at Belvoir Road. Once again it was both Pete Playle 73 & Michael Playle with 6-26 that enabled Hickling 168-6 to a resounding victory over Collingham 49-10. Bingham 165-10 move into second spot as both Matt Spencer 5-27 and Jacob Horne 4-29 struck in the win over leaders Thrumpton 122-10 for whom Dan Huskinson took 5-24. East Bridgford 92-2 closed out an excellent away win over Plumtree 91-10.

Trophy Master Division E

Gino Taj with 6-14 bowled Nott’s Unity 62-5 to victory as his spell destroyed opponents Belvoir 58-10. Lee Evans 71, Ajmal Farooq 51, Mohammed Mehmud 50* and Kamran Rasheed 5-15 were the quartet of performances that enabled Ruddington 240-9 to a resounding success over Caythorpe 146-10. 40 from Timmy Berridge helped Newark R&M 129-5 inflict a home defeat upon Sutton Bonington 128-6. East Leake 110-3 continue their revival with a fine away win over Underwood with the 5-27 from C Clarke proving to be the deciding factor. A thrilling game saw the 6-34 by O Lowe go un- rewarded as his side West Bridgfordians 129-10 failed to chase down the 137-10 made by winners Kirkby Portland.

GB Bookkeeping Division F

Tom Lawson 43 and Richard Stanton 3-18 wrapped up victory for Burton Joyce 120-10 as visitors Lenton & Willoughby were bowled out for 70-10 in reply. A match defining 57 from the bat of Martin Wilson saw Caunton 141 -8 run out winners in a close encounter against Wymeswold 137-8. P Dobb 4-10 & R Cook 4-11 bowled Flintham 40-1 to an easy win away at struggling Gotham 39-10. W Khalil 49. and the league’s leading wicket taker Tom Bosworth 6-12 saw Basford Mill 187-9 coast to victory over Ravenshead 58-10 at The Burnt Stump ground.

Bar Lane Community Sports Division G. 

Josh Tranter with 40 and S Ryder with 4-20 secured a convincing win for Balderton 219-9 in the victory over Beeston & Toton 121-10 who had David Hoon hitting 54. Various contributions from Nazakat Ali 64 Shafique Dad 61*, Ali Haidar 41,Nasrullah Khan 5-47 & Qasim Khan 4-36 gave Carrington 216-3 maximum points as they returned home with the win over hosts Fiskerton/Thurgarton 149-10. Whatton & Aslockton amassed an incredible 338-10 with century’s from both Jamie Lambourne 120 and Dominic Chambers 107 in excellent form and although Kinoulton fell short finishing on 253-4 the innings of 138* from T Holmes is indeed worthy of note. Sukhdeep Sidhu with 5-26 reduced West Bridgford Legion to a score of 126-8 and after a few scares Kimberley 129-7 held on to take the win. The game between Gedling Colliery and Young Lions was yet another victim of the rain from earlier in the week.

Turner Violins Division H

George Baker with 5-26 restricted Gedling & Sherwood to just 129-10 but then the tide was turned by Charlie Cresswell who took 3-28 to dismiss Attenborough for 97-10. Gary Dawson with 4-36 saw Stapleford 118-4 complete a fine away win over Bottesford 117-10. Youngster A Ward took 5-51 but his team mates could not replicate his efforts with the bat as Long Eaton 84-10 failed to chase down the Calverton score of 179-10 in which James Calmey hit 71. Saqib Shah, 45 & 5-27 along with Surya Varma 50 were the instigators for Clifton 231-8 in a fine home win over Southwell 157-10. Asim Hussain 50 & Kashif Sardar 47 inspired Madni to a fine 222-10 and then Hanzila Siddique 3-19 and Kaleem Mohammed 3-20 bowled them to victory dismissing Chilwell for 152-10 in reply

Carlton Car Centre Division J

Danny Hammond 65, Ryan Glossop 32*, Ryan Duggan 31 & then a fine bowling performance from Taimoor Tasnim with 6-13 saw Ellerslie 203-5 run out comfortable winners over Hoveringham 77-10. Eddy Storr with 86 and 4-9 from Rob Derry gave Ruddington 186-9 the points in the away win over Keyworth 113-10. West Bridgfordians 251-6 controlled affairs from start to finish with A Pettit 134* & F Minhas taking 4-13 in the away win over Oxton 99-10. Basford Old Boys were unable to raise a side in the home fixture against Woodborough.

King Stone Products Division K

Bramcote 160-8 came out on top in thrilling finale with 2 balls to spare with Norman Jowett top scoring with 69 that backed up the bowling of Ankith Patel 5-39 in the win over Poplars 156-10 who themselves had the pair of Veeran Thola 55 and Waseem Azhar 5-27 in fine form. A final ball encounter saw Caythorpe 159-8 fall agonisingly 1 run short when going down to defeat at the hands of Attenborough 160-7 with two excellent bowling performances from both sides those of S Wilson 5-35 and Seth Puddy 4-32. M Hills hit a match winning 144 to see Farndon 252-10 to a glorious win over Great Dalby 226-10 who themselves had J Picker scoring three figures with his 114. M Manocha with a vital 32* saw Newark R&M 142-7 edge out Collingham 139-10 to move into equal second spot. The game between the top two Kimberley & Wollaton sadly was called off due to the rain affected wicket.

Oracle Property Finance Ltd Division L

Mohammod Faisal 54 and Touhid Mazumder 48 guided Bengal United 198-7 to a close win over Basford Mill 195-8 at the City Hospital Ground. Simon Holmes with 3-9 helped Chilwell 81-2 secure a home win over Underwood 80-10. Ameer Shah with 3-12 reduced Old Dalby to 100-10 and East Bridgford coasted home with a score of 101-3 at the close. T Henderson 90 and G Henderson with 4-15 inspired Belvoir 168-3 to gain an away win over Radcliffe on Trent 167-9 despite a fine first knock of the season by M Taylor 55*. Thrumpton were unable to raise a side in the fixture against RHP.  

Robert Whowell & Partners Division M

T Lloyd 4-42 and C Willetts 3-21 caused the upset of the day as lowly Bingham 134-9 rocked table topping Lowdham 126-10 at Butt Field. Nottingham Deaf 71-10 were unable to take advantage as the 68 from Mick Rees saw Hucknall 147-10 to a fine win. Lambley 92-10 also failed to capitalise on the top two losing as they also were defeated this time by Nott’s & Arnold 260-9 for whom there was a maiden century for Bhavuk Sharma 110 in addition to the 49 & 3-19 from Tom Davies. Tom Godfrey 70 and Luke Essex 40* gave the impetus for West Bridgfordians 146-7 to calmly gain the win in a fine encounter against Kirkby Portland 143-8. Gareth Johnson 43* and team mate Jatinder Rai with 3-40 took Burton Joyce 112-4 to an away victory over Wymeswold 108-6.

Paul Grundell Division N

Josh Singh starred with the ball when taking 5-13 as Keyworth 58-6 nervously crossed the winning line when chasing Beeston & Toton’s earlier score of 57-10 as Andrew Blunt with 5-28 came close to pulling of an amazing recovery. Father and son Nadeem Akhtar with 131*, Adnan Akhtar 43* & 2-15 (u13)  and then finally Matt Wharmby with 4-30 made it an exceptionally good day at the office for Ellerslie 222-2 in the emphatic home win over Fiskerton/Thurgarton 113-10. C Rudkin with a fine spell of 4-8 helped Nott’s & Arnold 148-8 to an impressive away win over Newark R&M 82-10. Ryan Robinson 89* and Mick Wooliscroft 8-15 were two magnificent performances that keeps West Bridgford Legion 156-6 at the summit in the win over Whatton & Aslockton 115-10.
