WEEKLY REPORT 24th June 2017

“Singh makes the Lions Roar”

Rye Cafe & Bar Division A

Balderton set an imposing target of 252-9 with centurion Chris Morris 114 and 48 from Stephen Ryder being the main contributions but yet again Kimberley 253-5 proved they were up for the challenge as they came home with an over to spare thanks to 95* from Dominic Wheatley and 73 from Matt Dean. An undefeated 71* from Danny O’Brien guided Gedling Colliery to a total of 186-9 against fellow strugglers Belvoir 187-6 who were seen home to victory by both Lewis Dann 42 and Ryan Lewis 43* who also claimed 5 catches during the encounter. In form Hamish Moore 116* continued his recent run of form with the bat to enable Ellerslie 211-5 to not only defeat but leapfrog opponents Collingham 205-7 at Little Bounds. G Sadaf 100* & S Basmi with 64 took Carrington to an imposing total of 279-5 and Plumtree dug in for the losing draw closing on 155-6. Back to winning ways for leaders Wollaton 267-3 with Dan Andrew 108*, Mustafa Iqbal 56*& Zain Latif (14 yrs.) taking 5-56 in the home win over Attenborough 137-10.

200 Degrees Coffee Division B 

Carrington 304-6 gained an impressive winning draw over leaders Calverton 219-9 with significant contributions from Zubayr Alam Khalil 107, Ibby Khalil 60 W Kayani 47 & Azhar Janjua 6-53 but a defiant 78* from Adam Peet denied them victory. After a few stumbles Clifton 200-7 gained victory with A Hart 66, K Cowlishaw 72 and 4-33 from P MacMillan in an entertaining game against Wollaton 199-9. Although they remain at the foot of the table Long Eaton 249-8 gained a much need win over fellow strugglers Eastwood 100-10 with Andy Edge 100 & 4-9, Tom Pepper 54 & Alan Villiers 4-58 seeing them home. 93 from Murray De Banke along with 60 by Richard Coleman helped Hoveringham to a score of 247-6 and this proved enough as they then dismissed Kirkby Portland for 171-10 in reply.

Rothera Sharp Division C

Youngster George Park 70 starred for league leaders Caythorpe 268-6 in their home win over Beeston & Toton 117-10 for whom starring with the ball was Jonathon Thornton when taking 4-107. Adrian Tompkins with 64 was the backbone of the 231-9 set by Radcliffe on Trent as they then slipped to defeat as Farndon 234-3 impressively powered their way to maximum points thanks to Martyn Hill 72*, Daniel Hubbard 60 & James O’Leary 56. 4-38 from Joe Cope and then 67* from Max Danby saw a comprehensive 9 wicket win for Fiskerton/Thurgarton 123-1 over Gotham 119-10. 6-39 from Adam Scott and a defining 65 by Harry Finch saw Hucknall 152-7 close out victory over Keyworth 151-10. In form Jonny Lawrence 5-35 once again starred with the ball but Gedling & Sherwood 101-10 were unable to chase down the 147-10 set by victors West Bridgfordians.

Rex Gooding Division D

5-14 taken by Alex Collins enabled Bingham 172-9 to maintain the pressure on the top two in the victory over Ellerslie 104-10. M Davis 83 and 46 & 3-25 by Glen Read saw Plumtree 189-6 inflict another defeat upon winless Bramcote 145-10 despite 5-45 from Mark Spibey. Charlie Lucas 81, Adrian Kitchen 51 & Gary Clark 44 were the run getters for Collingham 252-6 in their home win over Grantham 151-8. Gavin Huskinson hit 85 as leaders Thrumpton set a total of 208-10 as hosts Gedling Colliery 209-8 inflicted only a second defeat on them thanks to 77 from Tom Coffee and 5-37 from Gareth Hayes. Nick Silverwood 87 and Harry Webster 65* saw Bottesford to a total of 211-6 but then it was the turn of Peter Playle to take centre stage with an undefeated 133* to steer Hickling 215-6 home to the win with 4 balls to spare

Trophy Master Division E

Congratulations must go for a first win of the season for East Leake 116-10 as Simon Oakley took 3-11 in their win over high flying Belvoir who slumped to 69-10 after seeming to be in control from the earlier efforts from Jamie Gilbertson 5-19 and O Elson 4-26. 52 from Hannah Hughes was the highlight for Caythorpe in a below par score of 139-10 as Kirkby Portland 142-4 strode to victory with 78 from Robbie Briton and a spell of 4-30 from Rebecca King. Fahad Kahn 53 and Ibraheem Agif with 45 saw Nott’s Unity post a competitive 214-6 but they fell to defeat at the hands of leaders Newark R&M 218-7 with a trio of fine performances from Bimal Parambil 50, Joe Smith 46 and Jake Harling 33 & 4-50. Ruddington 201-9 flip flop positions with Sutton Bonington 144-10 thanks to Wasim Ahmed 53  and Kamran Rasheed 40 & 5-17 although Tim Berridge 81 and  Dave Appleby 5-51 did their best even in defeat. Tom Chalkey 99 just missed out on a century in Underwood’s total of 159-10 in his sides home defeat at the hands of West Bridgfordians 160-5 for whom Abi Khan took the plaudits with his 4-37.

GB Bookkeeping Division F

Powering their way to victory Burton Joyce 266-6 had Kris Seymour 86, Oli Cooper 76, Richard Stanton 43*, Tim Baker 3-21 and James Lawson 3-30 all in fine form as they brushed aside Ravenshead 125-10. Flintham 196-3 ran out convincing winners with a fine 98 coming from the bat of Matt Newcombe in a home win over Wymeswold 193-8 for whom Dan Barry scored 68 and Hugo Orme took 5-27. Dave Forde top scored with 65 as Lenton Willoughby closed on 227-10 but then it was man of the match F Ludlowe with 65* & 4-57 along with 65 from Martin Wilson that saw Caunton 230-4  home to victory. Lowdham 267-4 handed out a crushing defeat to bottom of the table Gotham 46-10 as the quartet of John Noall 47, Lloyd Naaké 59, Danny O'Donnell 63* and Ian Staples 42 all made batting contributions.

Bar Lane Community Sports Division G. 

With the game nicely balanced it was a fine innings from Phil Kirby 65* that guided Whatton & Aslockton 162-5 to victory over Beeston & Toton 159-9 in which Stuart Tideswell had earlier hit 53. Finishing on 81-1 the pair of Nathan Jones 41 and Asad Hussain 40* both batted freely in Fiskerton/Thurgarton’s emphatic win over Balderton 80-10. The trio of Josh Bembridge 61, Blayne Riley 61* and Nick Smith 4-28 also gave Kimberley 133-1 a quick fire win as they entertained Kinoulton 131-7. D Roper 57 top scored for West Bridgford Legion 154-8 but they fell to defeat as visitors Gedling Colliery 158-6 gained the win with C Waite hitting 58. With the game beautifully poised it was Haljeet Singh with 6-29 including a hat trick of victims to help Young Lions 205-10 inflict defeat upon Carrington 178-10 in a game which saw Taj Nalk hit 68 and Nazakat Ali hit 53 and take 4-32.

Turner Violins Division H

Bowlers ruled the roost in the game in which Alasdair Culpin took 5-34 for Balderton 89-10 as they failed to chase down the score set by Clifton129-10 for whom S Shah 58 and 3-25 & M.Ali 4-29 starred. Attenborough 253-7 handed out a crushing defeat upon Calverton 54-10 with Alex Lawrence 79, Colin McConnell 58, Sam Henson 5-28 & Charlie Simkiss 4-21 all excelling during the days play. John Gell 76* & Moeen Haider 4-61 were the match winners for Gedling & Sherwood 188-7 in an entertaining match against Stapleford 187-6 for whom the inform duo of Gordon Pearson 74*& Alan Pearson 4-30 were once again producing the goods. Although John Fletcher only scored 43 the importance cannot be underestimated as Long Eaton 97-8 gained a valuable win over previous league leaders Madni 94-10 for whom Adnan Saddiq took 6-45. Chilwell 164-7 gained a narrow 3 wicket away win over Southwell 161-9 despite a fine 54 from Matt White.

Carlton Car Centre Division J

Hoveringham 198-9 secured an away win over Basford Old Boys 127-10 with S Shore 3-10 & M Cupitt 3-31 wrapping up the win. Jack Pates 81*, Jack Guthrie 4-35 & Andy Whyley 4-29 gave Hucknall 129-1 a convincing win over Ellerslie 128-10. Ian Graham 59 & 4-16 and Scott Berridge with 55 were the heroes for West Bridgfordians 170-6 in a fine win over former league leaders Ruddington 168-9. Cotgrave sadly were unable to raise a side against Oxton.

King Stone Products Division K

Although H Baig took 6-14 he still saw his side Poplars 55-10 slump to defeat when failing to chase the 129-10 set by Attenborough in which Gordon Airey hit 41. Simon Park hit 82 in Caythorpe’s total of 152-8 but 65 from Josh Fraser saw Kimberley 155-1 to a comfortable away victory. Bruce Green 75 & Richard Hanrahan 38 and 3-21 were both instrumental in the win for Bramcote 225-10 over Collingham 182-8 in which Martin Sugden hit 49. A fine 103 from L Harrison saw Great Dalby set a total of 197-7 and with one over to spare Newark R&M 198-6 ran out winners with G Squires 41 and S Butt 44 & 2-36 both inspiring the win. The fab four of Caspar Barnes 4-31, Huzaif Latif 3-11, Nas Saleem 49* & David Watson 39* gave Wollaton 97-0 an overwhelming victory over Farndon 96-10.

Oracle Property Finance Ltd Division L

Belvoir 257-6 with Sam Jepson 56, Ian De'Ath 59 and Grant Davies hitting 69 gained their first win of the season when overcoming Underwood 242-7 who themselves had Alan Marshall scoring 59. Adnan Mehmood with a fine 53 guided East Bridgford 119-3 to a routine victory as they returned home victors over Chilwell 116-9. Bengal United 181-10 caused the upset of the day by toppling table toppers Old Dalby 110-10 with Abdul Haseeb causing the damage when taking 5-17. RHP 90-3 continue a recent run of good form with a convincing win over Radcliffe on Trent 90-10 with the pair of Alan Goode 41* and David Nicholson 5-31 sharing the spotlight. Basford Mill 165-10 had both Waqas Abad 47 & Tom Bosworth 5-27 once again featuring in the win over Thrumpton 90-10 who themselves had bowlers Matt North 4-24 and Sam Charlton 4-32 starring with the red cherry.

Robert Whowell & Partners Division M

Mike Rees 58 long with Mitchell Colebrook 52 & 3-15 gave Hucknall the firepower to overcomne Nott’s & Arnold 119-9. Thomas Austin blasted a rapid 63 as Lowdham 129-3 stay top of the league when defeating lowly placed Kirkby Portland 125-7. A valuable 59* from Pat Atkinson proved to be the decisive innings as Lambley 135-10 ran out winners by 24 runs in their encounter with Burton Joyce 111-10. Jordan Slater 67, Cliff Wilson 4-16 & Andre Pears 3-27 all contributed to help Nottingham Deaf 152-9 return to winning ways as they entertained Bingham 68-10. Andrew Shelton 110 and Jason Whowell 48 helped Wymeswold to a formidable total of 251-10 and in a spirited fightback West Bridgfordians fell short when closing on 227-6 with Barney Mead top scoring with 78.

Paul Grundell Division N

An inspiring innings of 75 by J Catchpole wasn’t enough to stave of defeat for Beeston & Toton 156-9 as visitors Gedling & Sherwood 158-4 ran out winners by 4 wickets. Not for the first time this season Ellerslie 73-9 grasped victory from the hands of defeat as they scraped home in a thriller against Keyworth 72-10.  Brian Butler 56* took Fiskerton/Thurarton 108-1 to an emphatic win over Nott’s & Arnold 106-10 to keep the pressure upon the other promotion contenders. Graham Ryan took the man of the Mach award thanks to his 96* that saw Whatton & Aslockton 220-6 gain a home win over Newark R&M 163-6.
